The NEOREMA™ (Northeast Ohio Research Education Medicine Alliance) Internship Program kicks off its seventh year on Monday, June 26, 2017. The program gives rising high school sophomores from across Northeast Ohio the opportunity to learn alongside world-renowned healthcare professionals at Cleveland Clinic and professors from Cuyahoga Community College and Kent State University.

Launched to increase the participation of groups that have been shown by the National Science Foundation to be underrepresented in biomedical sciences on a national basis, NEOREMA™ provides educational programming for American Indian or Alaskan Native, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, underprivileged, or first generation college students.

During the four-week program, students explore a variety of medical fields and gain a better understanding of what schooling they will need to embark on their eventual careers. Through hands-on activities in academic, clinical, and laboratory settings, students also achieve a deeper appreciation for the complexities of patient care and the critical role research plays in the world of medicine.

As regional leaders in research, education, and medicine, our alliance institutions recognize the importance of developing and training the Northeast Ohio region's next generation of biomedical leaders. We're committed to providing the education, support, and access necessary to ensure program participants can achieve their dreams of becoming physicians, researchers, and health science professionals without leaving home.

The 2017 NEOREMA™ Internship Program includes 21 rising high school sophomores from high schools across Northeast Ohio.
