Science Internship Program: Respiratory Care

The Respiratory Care track of the Science Internship Program expands high school students’ knowledge of science and medicine as it relates to the practice of Respiratory Care and the exploration of lung, breathing, research, and allergy-related disorders provided at Cleveland Clinic.

In collaboration with the Respiratory Institute, this nine-week paid internship provides rising high school juniors and seniors who live and attend school in Northeast Ohio and have an interest in this career an opportunity to experience Respiratory Care (medical, therapeutic, and research) from simple to complex treatments and advances. Students will interact and work with pulmonologists, allergists/immunologists, critical care specialists, and researchers in various clinical settings, and observe therapists perform a variety of procedures, tests, treatments, and prevention services.

These activities are designed to provide selected students who have an interest in the career of respiratory care with individualized, structured, full-time respiratory care and therapy learning experiences focused on both patient care and developing a research study idea, protocol development, data collection and analysis, and creation of an abstract.
