Science Internship Program: Physical Therapy

After much consideration and to protect the safety and well-being of our patients, caregivers and community, we have decided to cancel Cleveland Clinic’s K–12 Education summer experiences and internship programs. These programs are rewarding for students, schools and mentors, but we believe this decision is in the best interest of our community. We will continue to explore future student programs and share information once opportunities are available.

In collaboration with the Department of Physical Therapy, the Physical Therapy track of the Science Internship Program expands high school student’s knowledge of science and medicine as it relates to the professions associated with the practice of physical therapy, exercise physiology, occupational therapy, recreational therapy and other related healthcare specialties at Cleveland Clinic.

This nine-week paid internship provides rising high school juniors and seniors who live and attend school in Northeast Ohio and have an interest in this career an opportunity to work and learn alongside experienced physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, physical therapist aides, athletic trainers, chiropractors, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, audiologists, speech-language pathologists and other specialists gaining exposure to the wide range of career paths this field has to offer. Students will interact with physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, physical therapist aides, athletic trainers, chiropractors, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, recreational therapists, audiologists, speech-language pathologists and other specialists and patients in all types of patient care settings including inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory care and experience hands-on learning through individualized, structured mentorship about the physical therapy profession.
