Balancing Medical Visits

Hayder Amaailw, Wendy Gutierrez

eXpressions™ Program: Math School: John Marshall School of Information Technology City/State: Cleveland, Ohio Teacher(s): Chelsey Cook Medium/Genre: Mathematical Analysis eXhibition Year: 2017
eXpressionist Statement:

Our goal was to physically represent and balance data shown in the original research using mathematics. The outcome of our eXpressions project showed us how the emergency department visits, hospitalization, readmissions, well visits, and acute visits were able to balance. We were inspired to pick this project because we are interested in children and how medical complexities impact them. Creating these balancing models allowed us to visualize how many visits the children and parents made to the medical home and how much they had to go through because of their complexities.
