Bone Appétit

eXpressions™ Program: Art School: Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School City/State: Broadview Heights, Ohio Teacher(s): Anne Jones Medium/Genre: 3-D/Sculpture eXhibition Year: 2018
eXpressionist Statement:

My inspiration for this project was Nicole Neifert’s research on bone structure sizes and their correlation with eating disorders. The intention of my piece is to symbolize the connection between bone structure and eating disorders by serving bones on a plate. The plate represents eating disorders that the patients experience. The plate is fragmented and distressed to show that eating disorders are not healthy. Together, I believe they show how bone size is closely related to eating disorders.
