eXpressionist Statement:

In her research, Nicole Niefert expresses that people with larger bone structures often feel pressure to conform to a body type that is unhealthy for them. My piece represents the stream of consciousness of someone with such an eating disorder. It is separated into stanzas by definitions of words that she applies to herself. I wanted this piece to give insight into the thoughts of someone with an eating disorder such as anorexia nervosa because society attaches such a stigma to these disorders, when they are illnesses like any other that also deserve compassion and understanding.
