eXpressionist Statement:

My eXpressions project is based on Shanya Reaves’s research on mindfulness and ADHD. Reaves explored how to help children of a young age control their ADHD by getting them active and using their energy to their benefit. Reaves found success through movement exercises called “Superman” and “Heartbeat.” In my project, the middle of the canvas is the focal point. This is significant since the kids learn to control their breathing during the mindfulness activities and "center" themselves, just as the painting illustrates a central focus. The blue color represents the child being calm.
