What are the requirements to prepare for the AMP’d Arena at the Medical Innovation Summit?
  • Your team will participate in two webinars and two "teacher discretion" work sessions.

Innovation Webinar – Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Research Work Session – Thursday, September 19, 2019 (teacher’s discretion) 
Disrupting Healthcare Webinar – Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
Essay Writing Work Session – Thursday, October 3, 2019 (teacher’s discretion)
 
Are there prizes?
  • We will award up to $150 cash for the top 3 essays ($25 per student + $50 for the teacher).  Essays will be judged by a panel of graduate students from John Carroll University’s Writing Center and Cleveland Clinic caregivers.
  • There will be up to a $150 cash award for the teams that select the Amp’d Arena winners ($25 per student + $50 for the teacher). 
 
 
Can students that participated in Judging Innovation in 2018 participate this year?
  • No, a new team of students should be assembled.  
 
How will my students get to the Medical Innovation Summit?
  • Schools will be responsible for arranging transportation to and from the Medical Innovation Summit.
 
What time should we arrive and what time should we plan on leaving?
  • We recommend arriving at 9:30 a.m. for the AMP’D Arena.  The AMP’D ARENA ends at 6:00 p.m. and lunch is will be provided around noon.  A light snack will be provided later in the afternoon. 
 
What are my students expected to wear at the Medical Innovation Summit?
  • Business attire is required.
 
What happens during the Research and Essay Writing Work sessions (teacher discretion)?
  • Your teams use that time to do research on the start-ups and the industry and to draft their persuasive essays.    
 
What are the research requirements?
  • We will provide research links and information on each of the start-ups, as well as basic information about health care innovations. 
 
Can my school have more than one team?
  • Schools are limited to one team per school.
