A Dangerous Game

eXpressionist Statement:

A Dangerous Game reflects the research "School Shooters: A Retrospective Analysis of Social and Behavioral Profiles as Predictors of Violent Action" by Ruth Ortego. Stacked wooden blocks, littered with glass shards and victims’ hands, were used to resemble the game Jenga. The blocks and glass symbolize the collapse of the minds of the individuals who attack schools. Words splattering the blocks exemplify reasons why people attack schools, with an emphasis on bullying, illustrating how one's mental tower might tumble, resulting in "game over." Some hands try to prevent the blocks from falling and ending the game, while others simultaneously try to accelerate it.
